Vadodara: Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has instructed Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) to implement the order of National Green Tribunal (NGT) regarding the Vishwamitri River Action Plan.
The state pollution observer has asked the Civic body to submit a time-bound action plan for river recovery within 15 days.
Missive to Commissioner City stated that the River Wishwamitri was one of the contaminated 351 stretch of rivers identified by the Central Polution Control Agency.
(CPCB).
The polluted issue of stretching river stretch has been considered in depth by NGT which has directed the Constitution of the River Rejuvenation Committee in each state and union region to prepare and implement an action plan for the recovery of each polluted stretch to effect.

Such an action plan has been prepared and approved by the CPCB and their execution is supervised by the Secretary of the Head in the State and Center Monitoring Committee led by Secretary, the Ministry of Jalshakti at the national level.
The action plan is to overcome the problems related to demarcation, protection of floodland zones and maintain minimum environmental flows.
