Thane: The first sero survey of Thane Municipal Corporation might be completed at the end of October, said TMC Mayor Naresh Mhaske.
“We work to have a holistic survey by closing all segments of society and also planning to increase the sample size of 800 early.
We will write the right strategy in the coming week and have set the initial target to solve the collection of samples at the end of the month but we can extend it depending on Field situation, “Mhaske told Ti on Friday.
The survey was marked by the Mayor of Naupada-Kopri Ward on Tuesday, after 240 samples collected from six administrative wards including Vartak Nagar, Uthalsar, Majiwada, Wagle Estate and Local Savarkar Nagar.
The rest will be taken in the phase for the next two weeks, officials said.
The survey is very important because it will provide an administration of indications of vulnerability in each administrative ward, experts say.
Officials informed by population blood samples will be equally divided between nine administrative wards and will be analyzed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, Kalwa.
Patients who visit public health centers and private hospitals will be asked to volunteer for surveys after the protocol set.
