Vadodara: When the countdown for the election for the new Senate Body starts at the MS University campus, a sharp contest anticipated in the battle of the registered graduate category.
Election for 14 seats in the registered graduate category, representing each faculty, is scheduled for December 19.
Even before the last day applying for a nomination, around a dozen candidates who had submitted their nominations while many others were expected to submit their nominations in the next few days.
Before the university issued a notification, it is expected that only a few faculties such as technology and engineering and social work (FSW) will watch the close contest.
But with new faces entering the poll, a difficult battle is expected in other faculties too.
In FSW, despite sitting members of the Joshi Senate Senate, three other candidates – Samir Mahajan, Jaymesh Oza and Arjun Solanki – have submitted a nomination.
Similarly, even as sitting the Senate and members of the Syndicate of Dinesh Yadav are arranged to file their nominations for the chair representing the Faculty of Art on Wednesday, two other candidates from Umang Gupte and Amrish Patel handed over their letters.
For chairs representing the Faculty of Law, Advocates Kishore Pillai and Shailesh Vyas have submitted a nomination.
So far, one candidate has submitted a nomination at the Faculty of Trade, Faculty of Art and Faculty of Journalism and Communication (FJC).
The majority of candidates have begun to campaign on the social media platform.
The selection roll resolved by university officials last month has voters in the range of 1,400 to 3,180 plus in large faculties such as art, science, trade, and FTE while faculties such as FJC are registered in rolls.
