Mangaluru: Shobha Karandlaje, the State Union Minister for Agriculture and the Welfare of Farmers, joined farmers to grow rice in Tanah Bera in Kadekar Village in Udupi District on Thursday.
The trust of the Kingotthana, led by Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, has set a goal to change 1,500 hectares of Tanah Bera in the Udupi district into rice fields.
Therefore, rice will be cultivated at 140 hectares of Tanah Bera in Kadekar Village.
The Minister suggested that MLA ensure more farmers’ participation in trust initiatives and form farmer cooperatives.
“Farmers are reluctant to invest in agriculture, think that it cannot be implemented, so the central government has launched several schemes for the welfare of small and medium farmers.
Paramaragat Krishi Vikas Yojana has been launched to provide an emphasis on traditional organic agriculture.
Demand for organic agricultural yields increases in the market International.
The plant insurance scheme launched by PM allows farmers to report plant losses using cellular applications, and utilize benefits without visiting government officials.
Farmers can upload images of plant losses directly to the application, to take advantage of compensation.
The government aims to multiply the income of Indian farmers, “Karandlaje said.
“I have suggested MLA Bhat to involve more farmers in the dedarotthana trust activities, and also form farmer producers.
Such initiatives will help farmers take advantage of all government agricultural schemes,” added the minister.
“Schools and colleges must take the initiative to introduce farmers to students and involve them in agricultural activities.
I will ensure support from the central and state government for agricultural activities,” he added.
