Noida: A sidewalk adjacent to the lower building near Gaur City 1 Caved on Monday triggered panic among the condos residents, police said.
Although there were no victims reported, the incident brought the spotlight back on the quality of construction in the area.
According to the police, the incident was reported around midday near the under construction hospital site which was being built near the gate number 2 of the housing complex by private construction companies, Galaxy Builders.
The condo’s internal road remained blocked when the cave-in produced Mudslide.Acp-2 (middle noida) Yogendra Singh told toi that part of the path had given up.
“We have told Junior engineers to look into the problem.
If there are irregularities noted, then we will begin legal action,” he said.
President of Gaur City 1st Avenue’s AOA KK Sinha claimed the sidewalk collapsed due to deep excavation in the Gaur City 4th Avenue facility area.
“We doubt that permission from competent authority for such risk construction has been obtained,” he added.
The incident, said Gaur City 1-Resident Achal Rohit, has left a frightened local population.
“Similar incidents were reported two years ago at the nearest Fifth Avenue.
The boundary wall has collapsed because of the excavation work,” he said.
An official from the Galaxy Builder said excavation was done after obtaining permission.
“It seems that the technical team has made a little mistake and do excavations in the wrong way.
Traffic must be transferred after the sidewalk collapsed.
We have also closed the gate number 2 of the community.”
