Mangaluru: To encourage children and adolescents to play skateboards, Olympic sports, WESKATE CO based on Bengaluru, hold a workshop three days from September 3 to 5 at Varanashi Organic Farms in Adyanadka Village on Bantwal, about 50 km from here.
Kristen Anish, popular as Kevin in the skateboard community and founder of WESKATE Co, said the purpose of this workshop was to encourage more teenagers to take sports.
Skateboarding has been formed and influenced by many skateboards throughout the year and involves riding and doing tricks using skateboards and also a recreational activity.
In India, Holystocated, a skateboard company is a pioneer of skate culture.
“Apart from the two sessions about skateboard every day, this workshop also includes an agricultural tour where participants are introduced with organic farming and other adventure sports such as loosening and trampolines and swimming,” he told toi.
Kevin is focused on skateboard coaching and community buildings including building skateparks and running programs also for less special children.
He is a skate camera operator in the film skater girl released at Netflix recently and has trained skaters throughout India.
Mahin Tandon, National Skateboard, also helps in doing workshops.
Coach Swim Parha Varanashi from the Varanashi farm said seven young people were 12 years old and 27-year-old participated.
“We have a celebrity make-up artist Bollywood Hiral Bhatia also attended this program.
We plan to accommodate seven workshops around the year.
In 2018, 100 ramps built a skatepark at Faranashi Farms and since then we have planned to hold a workshop.
Because of Pandemic Covid-19 , Entering the workshop is limited to 10, “he said” with the skateboard section of the Olympics and a fine skater film, the demand for skateboards increased.
Communities in the coastal district also grow with at least 50 skates.
The skate culture is trending now.
