Kosice: Slovakia has widened registration for the planned public event during a visit by Pope Francis which began on Sunday to allow some people not vaccinated against Covid-19 also to attend.
Pope Francis will arrive in most Slovakia Rome Catholic on September 12 for visits peaking in an open mass on the Sastin pilgrimage site in West Slovakia on September 15.
About 43% of people in the 5.5 million countries have so far been fully vaccinated or have received their first chance against Covid-19.
The Slovak Bishop Conference said people who were not vaccinated which had been tested negatively or those who had recovered from Covid-19 in the last 180 days would also be allowed to register for papal events.
About 30,000 people have so far been registered for Mass to celebrate our Lady of Sorrows party in Sastin, a site dedicated to Santo Patron Slovakia.
Some tens of thousands of people usually attend the event during the papal visit.
A mass in the Czech Republic neighbor attracted 120,000 in 2009 when Pope Benedict visited.
Francis will be the first Pope to visit Slovakia since John Paul II in 2003.
