Jodhpur: A small boy was arrested here for allegedly impregnating his 15-year-old cousin, who delivered the baby here, police said on Saturday.
The girl, who from a village here, delivered a baby at a government hospital on Friday, they said.
According to the chairman of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Dhanpat Gurjar, the girl was “raped” by his cousin, who was at the same age, when he lived in the girl’s house during their vacation.
The girl’s parents, however, refused to accept the baby girl and had expressed their desire to surrender a newborn baby to the children home, he said.
Gurjar said the mother of the girl was aware of the incident and also about her daughter’s pregnancy but would rather make mothers remember their family relationship.
He said because the family was not interested in keeping babies with them, the process of submitting the baby to the child’s home will begin on Monday.
Both the mother and child are healthy, he said.
CWC was informed about the incident through the hospital when the girl was accepted there on Thursday.
After that, Gurjar and the team advised the girl and his parents to get more details about the incident.
“The mistress of the girl and her mother was ready to reveal the incident to the police and the doctors.
It was only after we arrived at the hospital on Friday and talked to the girl and mother who described them about the complication of this case, they revealed information”, said Gurjar.
He said the mother knew about the incident during her daughter’s pregnancy but chose to keep it wrapped.
According to the police, the families of the victims and families accused of originating from rural areas near Jodhpur and survive on the work and work of mason.
