Mangaluru: Daily commuter from Kasaragod District Kerala filed a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner K V Rajendra, seeking release from RT-PCR testing which was obliged to be on the border with Dakshina Kannada (DK).
Delegation of Sahayathri, daily commuter forums from DK, which depend on the districts for employment, education and other purposes, meet DC on Thursday.
“Thousands of people, including doctors, paramedical staff, employees, students and entrepreneurs from Kasaragod depend on Dakshina Kannada and travel here regularly.
The government has conducted a RT-PCR test for passengers between countries, and therefore, people travel with Covid-19 negative report for the last 45 days.
Students are also made to undergo RT-PCR tests four times a month, “said Sahayat Kishor Yenankudlu, Shivakrishna Niduvaje and Ganesh Bhat Varanasi explained.
In return, DC said the decision would be taken based on the test level of test in Kasaragod Regency.
94 Tests + VE in DK, 77 in the Udupi District of Dakshina Kannada reported 94 COVID-19 cases with 1% testing levels on Thursday.
While three deaths again took the death toll to 1,660, this district had 936 active cases.
Meanwhile, Udupi recorded 77 fresh Covid-19 cases, and this district had 206 active cases.
