Rajkot: Police Vanthali Junagadh on Wednesday arrested a 40-year-old man from Rajkot for firing two rounds in the air from a licensed revolver on the banks of the Ozat River near Vathali from Junagadh on Tuesday night.
According to the incident witness Nanabhai Karmata (60), a resident of Dhanfuliya Village in Junagadh, who was also acquainted, two people arrived in the car on the river and one of them shouted at workers who were sand mining while others fired two rounds of his weapons .
Then, both of them left the place.
No one was injured in the incident but one of the workers fired a video of a shot and circulated it on social media.
The police launched the probe after learning about the incident.
“We caught the Vimal Kataria from Rajkot who had shot in the air.
He claimed that he was with his family visiting a temple near the Ozat River.
While walking around the river, he saw workers mine sand and to scare them, he opened fire on air,” Police said.
The police ordered it under various parts of Act Act and also captured the licensed revolver.
