Hyderabad: Telangana may have recorded the highest surplus rainfall in this rainy season.
But the close view of official data revealed that the distribution of rainfall in this region was rather tilted.
According to the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), the figures of Hyderabad, Telangana recorded 33% of excessive rainfall – 947.9 mm compared to the previous 713.7 mm – between June 1 and now.
From this, while northern districts such as Adilabad, Nirmal, Jagtial, Nizamabad received rainfall “great excess” 20% -59%, great excess is 60%), southern and eastern districts such as NagerCurna, Jogulamba Gadwal, Wanaparthy accepts rainfall relatively less.
Experts associate this to shift in weather systems – such as trough, cyclone circulation, low pressure areas etc.
– and explain how great variability in the distribution of the rainy season occurs every year.
“Every time the weather system ends at Odisha coast and the central part of the country, North Regency tends to receive heavy rain.
However, when the system is around the coast of Andhra Pradesh, Godavari and Krishna, the southern district accepts a higher amount of rain,” said a shravani , Meteorologist, IMD, Hyderabad.
Experts also show how spells or dry days with little or no rain and very heavy rain events in a short time, have increased in recent years.
“Over the past 10 years we have observed the trend of increasing rainfall activity, especially in Telangana.
Until last month, the country was experiencing a monsun break for a short time.
Now suddenly, rainfall activity has been continued with an increase in extreme rainfall events,” The word YV Rama Rao, a meteorological consultant, the community of Telangana State Development Planning, added that this phenomenon will continue because the surface of the heated soil, rose at the atmospheric temperature and increased moisture level.
