MADRID: Spain will send on Saturday 30 tons of humanitarian aid to Haiti affected by a strong earthquake, the Spanish Foreign Ministry said.
Humanitarian cargo includes 21 tons of medical materials, tarpaulins for shelters, kitchen kits, and water purifier materials, and 10 tons of aid sent by several humanitarian organizations, such as the Red Cross of Spain, actions against hunger, and Medecins du Monde.
The Spanish body for international development cooperation has also allocated 250,000 euros (more than $ 292,000) in assistance to Haiti.
On August 14, the deadly 7.2 earthquake swept Haiti, with 2,000 toll toppings.
More than 12,000 people suffered injuries with different severity, and more than 300 people were still not taken into account.
Many countries, including the United States, UE members, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela have sent a humanitarian mission to Haiti, but up to 600,000 Haitians still need emergency assistance, according to the country’s authorities.
