Jhansi: A number of sporting events marking the 116th birth anniversary of legendary hockey player, Padam Bhushan Major Dhyanchand in Jhansi his hometown on Sunday, the day is also celebrated as National Sports Day.
In addition, the ‘Khel Prerak Samman’ award was declared by Olympian Veteran and the son of Dhyanchand, Ashok Dhyanchand to be given since this year to promote sports.
The friendly match was held between Jhansi Eleven and the Eleven Army at the Astro Astro Astro Astro Hockey Stadium, which was won by the former team.

Started in 1921 by local hockey fans HN Banerjee, the club has produced a number of national and international players who have been part of the club and has been practicing in the same soil including Dhyanchand himself and his brother Roop Singh.
