Kalyan: A 29-year-old man from Thane has been arrested for allegedly stalking and persecuting a 22-year-old student on a local train and at Kalyan Train Station on Monday.
After the girl and her brother raised the alarm, the Kalyan GRP team immediately arrested the defendant, identified as Atmaram Rathod.
Valmik Shardul, Senior Police Inspector Kalyan GRP said, “Probe has revealed that the defendant used to criminal and he had been released from the city.” GRP said the reporter, a law student was in the female compartment and the defendant was in a side by side compartment.
The complainants alleged that after the train arrived at Kalyan Station at 3:30 a.m., Rathod followed him from the platform number 4 to 1 and passed obscene comments and even asked him to share contact numbers.
