Pune: Water stock in the Ujani Dam increased to 88.9 percent on Monday with 47.6 TMC water storage of living in the reservoir.
Ujani is the biggest dam in Bhima Basin in terms of water storage capacity.
Dam supplies water to Pune, Solapur, Ahmednagar Regency.
The dam stock has risen steady over the past few days.
It mainly collects water released from the upstream dam located in Pune District.
Officials in the State Irrigation Department said that the release of water from the Hulu Dam had been reduced since the last two weeks because it was a bit of rainfall in the catchment area which had caused an increase in water levels in the Ujani Dam.
Ujani shares have reached the full capacity last year during the last week of September.
This year the dam still reaches its full capacity.
“We hope the stock reaches 100% if the upstream dam accepts a heavy spell and it leads to the release of water in the Bhima River,” added the official.
Kuli Ujani has received 438mm rainfall since 1.
Jun said that they would start the release of water from the dam only after the stock rose to 100%.
The dam has a total capacity to store more than 110 TMC water where 53.5 TMC is livestock and the rest is a dead stock.
