STP in Talavdi, Civic Flak’s face

Vadodara: Waste treatment plants on the body of the water! Savli Municipality in the Vadodara district arrived under the fire to do this.
The local Civic Agency has begun to build a waste treatment plant (STP) on a plot of land known as ‘patel talavdi’, a water body located in Savli-Udalpur Road.
Ironically, the water body known as ‘Patel Talavdi’ (Pond) since the 1950s has been converted into ‘Sarkari Padtar’ (Wasteland Government) in a revenue record since 2017.
Environmental activists have raised concerns over alleged violations of the Supreme Court (SC) and High Court Orders (HC).
Gujarat pollution control agency (GPCB), state pollution supervisor, has issued a notification to the local authorities because it does not take the required permission before starting construction.
Interestingly, the municipality has assigned the task of building 2.5 million liters per day of STP to the supply of water and gujarat waste boards, the Gujarat government legal entity, which is responsible for the development, regulations and control of drinking water in the state.
Chief Executive Officer Savli Municipality is not available for comments.
“Gujarat HC in 2002 has been clearly stated in the order so that no one can disrupt the water body.
This is the state government and the obligation of the civil body to protect the body of the water.
Instead, even so many letters, they damage the body of water by preparing STP on For it.
SC has also provided clear guidelines about how STPS must be set, “said Rohit Prajapati Environmental activist.
RB Trivedi told Ti that after receiving a complaint, he had issued direction to stop the waste that was not treated from dumped into the pool.
.
“We have asked Savli Municipality to clarify the changes in land use.
Also, we have issued a notification to the Civic body because it has not obtained the NOC before continuing work.
It is obliged to find the NOC before starting the project,” he said.
This problem has also been taken to the revenue department notification including the concerned Mamlatdar and Collectorate.
The farmers affected accused the description of ‘Talavdi’ as ‘Sarkari’.
Padtar ‘doctorsed.
“A ‘Talavdi’ still becomes talavdi forever,” representation before all state countries stated, demanding that the municipality must correct his mistake and shift STP elsewhere.
