Mangaluru: Six people have been arrested for allegedly attacking and harassing two students traveling together on two-wheeled vehicles in Idya village near Kapaykal in the city Monday night.
Both students come from different communities.
According to the complainant, a BSC student from a college in Mukka, he dropped his friend to his apartment complex at Idhya around 10pm when the incident occurred.
The six defendants left them and abused them.
They harassed the girl for traveling with a boy from another community and then continued to attack them.
The defendant who was arrested was Prahalad, Prashanth, Teacher Prasad, Prateesh, Bharath and Sukesh.
The source said that criminals followed the students on motorbikes until they reached the girl’s apartment in Idya.
The defendant walked two near the apartment and asked their name.
When they told their names, the defendant began to abuse them using dirty language.
The people were suspected of attacking both of them and angry at the simplicity of the girl by touching it and pushing it.
The defendant pampered himself in a criminal activity which could lead to violations of communal harmony between the two communities, the police said that the defendant also threatened a complainant with a consequence related to a girl from another community.
A police team rushed to immediately and Siam defendant was detained.
The case has been listed under the IPC section 341, 143, 147, 148, 323, 504, 506, 153A, and 149 at the Police Station as a police officer and the defendant has been produced before the court.

The defendant told the police during the investigation that they came from a pro-Hindu organization, said the city police commissioner N Shashi Kumar.
