Mysuru: Congress workers on Tuesday symbolically launched Mekedatu inyatra at The Historical Gandhi Square here.
Freedom Fighters T Puttanna and Ranga Shetty marked the diayatra by watering plants and then joined the symbolic March of Gandhi Square to the Jubilee Silver Jam Tower.
Hunsur MLA HP Manjunath and former Mlaas Vasu and Kalale Keshavamurthy and hundreds of party workers from the district are also part of the March.Manjunath said the central and state government must stop dirty politics on the Mekedatu project and get permission from the Ministry of Environment and Forest to build the dams beginning.
“The State Government attempts to clamp the inyatra through various ways.
This project will resolve the problem of drinking water in the city of Bengalaru in addition to 10 districts.
Instead of trying to stop the crowd, the government must take the project,” he said.

Kat Vijaykumar said Congress, who has struggled for independence, has continued his struggle for various social problems and gives justice for people.
“During the freedom movement, Mahatma Gandhi had visited Mysuru and talked for freedom fighters at Gandhi Square,” he said.
Party workers who came from various parts of the district left behind for Kanakapura to join the diayatra led by KPCC President DK Shivakumar.
