Bowler Fast Bowler Barat Obel McCoy has been ruled out from the Twenty20 World Cup with a shin injury, the Country Cricket Council (CWI) said on Wednesday.
McCoy, 24, played in Group I opening against England last weekend but missed Tuesday’s match against South Africa, with defending champions suffering defeat on both occasions.
Jason All-Rounder holder, which was originally referred to as a travel reserve for the tournament, will replace McCoy on the 15-Man squad.
Holders have 199 western Indian hats with their names, which include 27 T20 Internationals.
“McCoy did it very well at T20IS earlier this year and was adapted well in the opening match against England,” said the main voter CWI Roger Harper in a statement.
“He is a key member of the bowling unit and it is unfortunate he will not be able to take a further part in the tournament.
We hope he will quickly recover and hope to see him back in the field to go again nearby.” Holders will be eligible for selection when West Indies took Bangladesh in Sharjah on Friday.
