Chennai: A total of 18 of 34 Covid-19 patients, infected with the new Omicron variant, have been removed from the hospital.
All active cases left, which have dropped s-genes and allegedly infected by Omicron, are undergoing treatment.
This includes Vadivelu actor and several film crew members, who returned from England recently.
Minister of Chief M K Stalin on Sunday inspects infrastructure, facilities and availability of medical oxygen here to overcome omicron tensions.
About 1.15 lakh beds are ready, and steps are taken to make 50,000 other beds if guaranteed, the official release said.
In Tamil Nadu, 610 was tested positive for Covid-19 on Sundays – this was slightly higher than the number reported in the last two days.

TN still has more than 90 lakh people who are still caused by their second dose.
The release said that 58% of the population that qualified the state vaccine had their first dose and 86% was fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile, the government prepares to start administering a dose of booster for frontline workers and vaccinations for children (aged 15 to 18 years).
