Chennai: The Chair of the Minister M K Stalin on Thursday announced that the detailed project report (DPR) to expand the metro line from the airport to Kilambakkam was being considered.
“The government has begun the action to carry out work based on the report,” he said as he responded to the question of Pallavaram MLA e-owned in the State Assembly.
MLA refers to the next bus termin in Kilabonkam.
According to the initial plan, a high line which includes 15.3km is to link the airport in Meenambakkam with Kilambakkam through the station at least 13 locations.

Lines, which may run parallel with suburban network networks, will also connect several landmarks such as Tambaram Train Station, Park Zoology Arignar Anna in Vandalur and Terminus Bus Moffusil appear in Kilabonkam.
The passengers will take around 40 minutes to reach the airport from Kilambakkam so the terminus bus gets ready at the end of this year.

When the construction of the Metro Rail Phase-2 project was completed, passengers from the southern suburbs such as Pallavaram and Tambaram could travel to Madhavaram on the northwest through the airport.
Residents on the outskirts of the city now want the government to speed up the work to build a metro line to connect tambaram with Velachery to make it easier for those who live in the ECR corridor and OMR IT.
CMRL connects OMR IT Corridor from Thiruvanmiyur to Siruseri Sipcot in the Phase-2 project.
