This project aims to provide 1 Gbps bandwidth connectivity to all village panthayats.

It also involves accusations of avoiding Indian components in the project.
Now, this project is scheduled to be implemented in four packages, and third party agents (TPA) will examine and audit its implementation.
Bharatnet imagines affordable but quality digital services, e-education, telemedicine, and triple-play services for all Panchayats villages from Tamil Nadu.
It will also provide high-speed Internet services to government offices, schools, colleges and business companies.
Minister Mano Thangaraj said that by providing the service, the project added to the submission of government services and would produce employment in rural areas.
Neeraj Mittal, Main Secretary, Information Technology Department and Khore K Kamal, Director of Tamil Nadu Fibernet Corporation is among those who participate in the function.
