Copenhagen: A 15-year-old boy has been detained for suspicion of attempted murder after a school employee injured in a knife attack in South Sweden on Thursday, police said.
Skanbska Dagbladet newspaper said the attacker brought a long knife, wore a skeleton mask, helmet and what looked like a bulletproof vest.
The police declined to comment.
The Ewa-gun Westford police spokesman said the 45-year-old male victim rushed with an ambulance to the nearest hospital.
The boy was arrested outside of school.
A police officer fired a weapon in connection with his arrest, Westford said.
The incident occurred in Eslov, 36 kilometers (22 miles) northeast of Malmo, Sweden’s third largest city.
The attack motif was unclear, Westford said, adding it was not immediately clear whether the teenager was a student at school.
The closest sports venue used to gather students and staff in the school building at the time of the incident.
