Hyderabad: One in every two young people in 15 to 17 age groups has been inoculated in Telangana because the state has been vaccinated almost 50% of the total population in the last 10 days.
In accordance with government numbers, there are 18.4 teenagers lakh in this age segment eligible to get vaccination for Covid-19.
The government began a vaccination drive throughout the state on January 3.
In the range of 10 days, 8.78 lakh (48%) had received the first dose on January 14.
If the momentum continues from the health department expected to complete the first dose of the target population coverage in this age segment for the next month.
Initially, there were doubts between adolescents who met their requirements and parents because the vaccination drive received a poor response in the first two days.
However, from day 3, the amount of vaccination began to improve with more advanced teenagers to get their hopes.
“After I got a review from friends who had their children inoculated, I went to get my son vaccinated.
With a new Covid-19 variant coming into the picture, I believe it is the right time for the government to introduce vaccination for teenagers, “said P vandana, parents.
The numbers of the Ministry of Health of the People of Telangana and family welfare show that 44% of adolescents who qualified in Hyderabad, 34% in Rangiteddy and 46% in Medchal have received their first dose.
Of the 1.84 lakh in the age segment in Hyderabad, 81,256 has been inoculated to date.
Some districts such as Mahbubnagar, Siddipet, Wanaparthy, Nizamabad, Yadadri Bhuvanagari and Manserial have reported the first dose coverage of more than 60%.
Nearly 5.27 lakh or 30% of the 18.41 lakh targeted only belonging to three districts – Hyderabad, Rangeddy and Medchal.
The districts together have provided more than 2.17 vaccine doses, which are more than 24% of the total vaccine doses given throughout the state.
