Hyderabad / Molugu: In the CRPF 39 high security battalion headquarters in the Muluugu District of Telangana, the police chief shot dead Sub-Inspector (SI) from the same battalion using the AK-47 on Sunday morning.
Immediately after Umesh Chandra (57), who had joined a two-week unit, slumped to the ground, police chief M Stephen (45) also shot himself.
He is now in critical condition and undergo treatment at a government hospital, but faced allegations of murder and suicide.
Officials said it was still a mystery why Stephen was allegedly shooting at the SI.
“The Si came for breakfast in the chaos where Stephen was posted as responsible.
For unknown reasons, an argument broke out between the two and Stephen used his service weapon, AK-47, fired a shot,” said a senior officer.
Umesh Chandra, who came from Bihar, died in place and for some time, all the battalions were surprised because many did not realize what had just happened.
Not sure how many bullets were fired: Spstephen suffered a bullet injury on his body.
Officials said they were waiting for post-mortem reports to find out the number of sustainable Chandra bullet injuries.
“We are not sure how many bullets are fired in murder and try to kill incidents.
The investigation is still done and we will get clarity only after the post-mortem report.

After the CRPF told the Muluugu Regency police about the murder, they reached the place and shifted the body to post-mortem examination and injured police were taken to the hospital.
Police Supervisory Assistant (Eturunagaram) Ashok Kumar said that a case was listed under Section 302 (murder) and 309 (efforts to commit suicide) from the IPC.
