Hyderabad: After weeks of intense political drama between TRS and BJP for the cause of farmers, the Telangana government finally reached a record of the procurement of 65.20 lakh metric tons of Kharif rice.
The central government has agreed to buy 46 lakh metric tons of rice from Telangana which is equivalent to 68.65 lakh metric tons of rice.
The state government has decided to buy Paddy to the last grain brought by farmers, in addition to 3 lats-odric metrics of rice which will meet the target of the central government 46 lakh metric tons (68.65 lakh metric tons of rice).
The Minister of Civil Equipment Gangula Kamalakar on Tuesday said the state government had bought 65.20 lakh metric tons of Vanakalam Padi on January 3 from 11.90 lakh farmers.
“The value of the Kharif Paddy obtained so far is Rs 12,761 Crore.
Of the total, RS 10,394 Crore was deposited to a bank account of nearly 8 farmers.
Apart from the challenges faced, the Telangana Government stands by farmers and buying rice without a sense of discomfort for farmers , “Minister said.
A total of 6,868 rice procurement centers opened in the state.
Of the total, 4,808 central was closed because procurement was completed in these centers, he said.
The Paddy obtained will be stated into rice for Indian food companies to lift 46 lakh metric tons as promised by the center.
Milling about 4 lakh metric tons of rice related to KAH Kharif rice has been completed, he added.
