Hyderabad: A tutor was sentenced to a lifetime by a local court in Nalgonda to rape 10 children aged 9 to 11 years when working for an NGO that provides food and residence for children from tribal hamlets in the district.
NGO organizers were also sentenced to life for life because they did not tell the immediate authority and his wife was awarded a strict sentence of six months.
All children study in grades 4 and 5 during the 28-year-old attack on tutors.
According to the public prosecutor S Venkat Reddy, tutor, who is also from the same hamlet, was employed by NGOs to teach students in hostels after school hours.
The defendant assured NGOs to let him stay at the same hostel where 34 boys and 44 girls rose.
In the range of five months during the second half of 2013, the defendant raped and attacked 12 girls at the NGO hostel and at his home in Hamlet.
He also threatened the girls, including using a knife on several occasions, said the public prosecutor.
The incident was revealed after a cousin of one of the minors visiting NGOs when the main defendant did not exist and the girls told him.
The rape case was registered on January 3, 2014.
Halia CI Anad Reddy and Miryalaguda DSP Subhash Chandra Bose investigated this case and the accusation sheet was submitted against the tutor and the couple who carried out NGOs.
Based on doctor reports and children’s statements, rape in 10 of 12 girls was proven, while the cost of sexual violence was proven to the defendant in the remaining two girls.
He was sentenced to life and also ordered to pay `10,000 fine.
The NGO organizers were also sentenced to life for life because they did not tell the violations of the authorities and did not follow the security measures in NGOs, while the wife was imprisoned for six months, the Public Prosecutor said.
