The estimated work cost is Rs 23 Crores which will be funded by Kiifb.

At present there is a Bund land road that connects Poonkulam and Kakkamoola across the lake.
It has been found that the Bund road is being completed for a long time.
During the rainy season, lake water flows across the Bund Land road which causes flooding such as situations that interfere with regular traffic and create difficulties in the journey of the local community.
Because the passage of sustained heavy vehicles, it is vulnerable to further settlement that can drop the road in the end.
Therefore, the construction of the bridge is very necessary at this location, the document said.
The government has provided administrative sanctions for a number of Rs 25Crores for the construction of the Vellayani Bridge in 2017.
Thus, detailed surveys and land investigation works have been carried out and tentative design images are obtained from the PWD design wing.
Based on this, the DPR for bridge work has been prepared and submitted to the Kiifb and financial sanctions provided.
For the execution of bridge work, KWA utility, KSEB and BSNL through the alignment of the bridge will shift.
In the DPR delivered to Kiifb for financial sanctions, the provisions to shift the Utilities of KWA, KSEB and BSNL are also included based on estimates received from each department.
The Main Station of the KWA Pump is also located near the existing Bund Road which is adjacent to aligning bridges from where Lake Vellayani water is pumped and taken to the nearest treatment factory and treated water taken back to various purposes through pipe lines through pipe lines through lines -Baris pipeline passing.

The construction of the bridge is expected to be completed in 18 months.
