Rajkot: A 23-year-old student from Tanzania studied at the Private University of Rajkot tested positive Omicron variants on Sunday.
Students who come to Rajkot on December 15 develop covid symptoms.
The Ministry of Health team sent the sample to study the same night genome.
Students are currently under treatment at PDU Government Hospital.
Students come from Darussalam to Zanzibar and then from Dubai to Ahmedabad.
He tested the negative at Ahmedabad but developed mild symptoms on December 15 and was tested positively covid.
The sample afterwards were sent for testing variants and the results came on Sunday.
“We tested 121 samples, three high risks, 19 low risk and 99 secondary contacts, all of which were tested negative.
Three to four university floors have been declared a detention area,” said Rajkot collector, Arun Mahesh Babu.
