Hyderabad: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that people over the age of 60 with the need to be given a dose of early January prevention measures, estimated that almost 25 lakh people in this category will require a preventive dose in the state.
Nearly 65 doses of lakh (including the first and second doses) have been given to people over the age of 60 in the state.
So far, this is an age group with the most qualified person.
Telangana has the highest population that qualifies between the ages of 18 and 44, and almost 2.73 crores (the first and second doses) are distributed to these people.
Other 1.17 crore doses (first and second doses) are given to people aged 45 to 60 years.
In the state, 3.97 doses of covishield 3 are given, and 54 lakh doses of kovagin are given.
According to health officials, more than three quarters of the age of 60 will have co-morbidity, making them qualify for drive vaccines.
“Nearly 20kh to 25 lakh people in this age group may require a prudential dose,” the top source said in the Ministry of Health.
Taking the country’s population projected into the account, nearly 30 lakh more people in the age group 15 to 18 years will be added.
“We need more clarity from the United States on this matter, and then we will be able to get the right targeted numbers,” said an official.
The country has been on the verge of achieving the first dose coverage of a 100% vaccine, after giving the first dose of 2.76 crores, with several districts exceeding the target.
The total target population that meets the state requirements is 2.7 crores.
Health officials have visited their homes that have not received their first dose.
