Thane: Four Lines Overbridge Rail Kopri (Rob) in the Thane District was thrown into traffic on Saturday, with officials claiming that the vital link would save fuel and accelerate the movement of vehicles to Mumbai and regions such as JNPT, Nashik and further to Gujarat.
Officials said MMRDA and Central Railway took all efforts to ensure four remaining paths of Rob were also assigned in one year.
The bridge, was first built in 1958, has become dilapidated and the construction that has just begun in April 2018.
Rob, which was inaugurated during the day by Maharashtra Minister PWD Eknath Shinde, had a length of 796 meters and wide.
65 meters, officials said.
