Daily drivers also rose 4 lakh in recent days, officials said.
The source said almost 3,700 frontline workers, especially the driver and conductor, had been infected by the virus so far – 82% of this was reported in the first wave, 15% in the third wave and 3% in the third wave.
When contacted, Lokesh Chandra’s best general manager said that while the number of cases reduced to zero, the business took several precautions for employee safety.
Examination and routine tests are being carried out in 27 depots for staff deployed on the red bus.
However, commuters have complained about the arrival of drivers and conductors who do not wear masks.
“Our daily motorists were beaten for several days during the third wave and had diminished to 24 lakh, but now it returns to 28 lakh,” Chandra said to Ti.
