WASHINGTON: With the aim of shifting priority from the battle of terror networks to spy on countries such as China, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) reform the training and dissemination of agents throughout the world.
The new policy will give them a deeper focus on certain ‘complex nations’, CNN reported.
This approach will replicate the Pre-9/11 policy and get a focus on returning to “Traditional and Traditional Tradecraft”.
Previously, the fight against terror emphasized military operations on Islamic terror groups.
However, now the US spy agent will try to rebuild the capacity of its intelligence on China and Russia.
The former US Operations Officer, Thad Troy said the agency seemed to try to imitate some things that worked well before the counterterrorism war dominated everyone’s focus.
Deploying officers to the geographical area “serving missions throughout the world is better because you are developing and enhancing that geographical, problem – or in some cases, special tradecraft expertise,” said Troy by saying CNN.
The next report said that the CIA has “instilled or ignored” Chinese global penetration in resource-rich areas such as West Africa while focusing more targets and other operations.
The US Agency also needs to recruit more Mandarin speakers and regional experts, add the report.
This step will also require extensive reform in training the Top Agency Intelligence analyst and senior officers who recruit and run agents throughout the world, according to the report.
This report comes a month after the CIA announces the arrangement of the new Chinese mission center to face threats from Beijing and overcome global challenges submitted to the United States.
“Director William Burns announced the establishment of the Chinese Mission Center (CMC) to overcome the global challenges posed by the Chinese People’s Republic of which cut all the regions of the agency mission,” CIA said in a statement.
Stressing that the threat comes from the Chinese government, Director Burns said that the new mission center will bring a response to all agents and unite the CIA’s extraordinary work that has opposed “this key rival.”
