Vadodara / Rajkot: Even though they are always a player in the state, Rajkot and Vadodara Corporations Municipal has a late direction spent to ensure that the non-vegetarian street food carts are still ‘invisible’ for the public eye.
The first to break the whip is BJP in power in Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) which verbally ordered officers to remove street vendors who sell non-vegetarian food and eggs from the main road.
The drive in this case began in the city for the past two days, even though there were no notifications or official orders issued for this effect.
However, officials maintained that they did not specifically target non-vegetable food vendors but took action wherever they received complaints of encroachment.
Rajkot Mayor Pradeep Dav began his journey after he got several complaints.
DAV held a meeting with several non-vegetarian food vendors before Diwali and instructed them to switch from the main road.
DAV told Tii, “I have asked officials to shift non-vegetarians and eggs (carts) from the main intersections and those who park themselves near the temple.
The majority of people feel disgusted when they pass this car because they smell and many also hang chickens Outside.
“Amit City Commissioner Arora said,” There are no special instructions to remove non-vegetarian cart.
We delete all types of accusation specifically where we get complaints of encroachment.
“RMC has confiscated six carts that sell non-food items.
Vegetables in the last two days.
There is a suggestion for developing a special snack zone for non-vegal street vendors but for that RMC does not find a suitable place.
Like Rajkot, the order in Vadodara is also oral and no notification that has been taken so far.
At Vadodara, Chairman of the Permanent Committee of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), Dr.
Hitendra Patel gave instructions in this matter to officials at the meeting on Wednesday night.
Patel, assured that the vendor would not be overthrown.
“We ask for vendors to ensure that they do not hang or display non-vegetarian food.
They must remain closed,” Patel said.
The chairman said that this was done to ensure that cleanliness was maintained and sentiments were not hurt.
At the other end, the President of the National Association of the Vendor Street India, Arvind Sindha, who came from Vadodara claimed that non-vegetarian food vendors were asked to stay away from the main road.
“They have been told to move from 30m and 18m,” he said.
Denies this accusation, Patel, however, said that the cart was only asked to ensure they did not hamper the traffic movement.
“Sometimes there is a heavy rush in such places and leads to traffic problems,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Standed Corporation Committee Ahmedabad Municipal said, “We have actually started a campaign against a non-vegetable food stall that sells without a license in front or near religious places.
The campaign is still on and I will soon review this.” ‘Why not Covers vegetable food too? ‘ Chairman of the Permanent Committee of VMC Dr.
Hitendra Patel saw cleanliness as one of the reasons behind the instructions to cover non-vegetarian food.
In response, the President of the National Association of the Indian Vendor Vendor India, Arvind Sindha, said that the same rules must be made for all street food vendors.
“Even the cart that sells vegetarian items must also be made to close properly,” said Sindha.
