Patna: A doctor was arrested for violating the state ban in consumption of liquor after he consumed alcohol at his residence at Patna Bihar.
He was sent to prison, said a police officer.
The doctor was identified as Abhishek Mundu who claimed to work in a hospital at Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Station House Officer, Gardanibagh, Arun Kumar said, “Everyone under our radar consumes alcohol regardless of the ban on the state.
We got regular information.
We got a piece of information that there was a doctor , Abhishek Mundu consumes alcohol in church compounds.
After reaching the place, a bottle of liquor recovered from his ownership.
“” When we tested him, he was proven to consume alcohol.
He said that he was posted at an ESI hospital at Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur and came here on Christmas holidays.
He has been sent to prison, “Kumar added.
“We are investigating where he gets alcohol supplies,” he said.
On November 26, Police Personnel Bihar had vowed to ensure the implementation of a ban on liquor in the state.
Head of Bihar Minister Nith Kumar admitted in November that the crime rate in the country went down after a ban on liquor.
