LONDON: The British court on Tuesday ordered the Dubai ruler to pay for the ex-wife and their children approached 550 million pounds ($ 730 million), in one of the most expensive divorce settlements in British history.
The High Court said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum had to pay 251.5 million pounds to his sixth wife, Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, and made sustainable payments for their children Al Jalila, 14, and Zayed, 9, supported by bank guarantees 290 million pounds.
The total number received by children can be more or less than 290 million pounds, depending on the factors including how long they live and whether they make peace with their father.
Settlement includes 11 million pounds a year to cover security costs for Haya’s daughters and children while they are minors.
Judge Philip Moor said the family needed “tight water security,” and that “truly unique,” the main threat to them came from Sheikh Mohammed, rather than outside sources.
Haya, 47, fled to England in 2019 and asked for two children through the British court.
Princess, who was the daughter of the deceased King Hussein from Jordan, said he was “scared” from her husband, who was suspected of ordering forcibly return to the Gulf Emirate of his two.

Bill divorce surpassed the 450 million pound settlement which was given Tatiana Akhmedova on his split from Russian billionaire Farkhad Akhmedov, at that time was quoted as the most expensive divorce of England.
Settlement Tuesday includes a 5.1 million pound vacation budget, the annual number is only more than 450,000 pounds for children’s staff and around 275,000 pounds for their animals, including two horses and a horse.
