The European Union postponed a digital tax plan amid US pressure

Written by news2in

New Delhi: The European Commission will postpone the plan to prioritize new retributions to digital services later in July, a spokesman said on Monday, following intense pressure from the US government.
Some European officials also questioned the tax value planned by EU executives after the G20 Economy agreed on Saturday on the global reform of corporate tax.
US Administration is alert to the EU initiative because it wants the existing national digital service tax to be revoked as part of the global improvement of the taxation of the Crossborder company.
“We have decided to hold our work on our new digital retribution as a new EU resource,” said the OU Commission spokesman Daniel Ferrie told a press conference in Brussels.
The EU will reassess the situation in the fall, he added.
On Saturday, EU economic commissioner Paolo Gentiloni said the UE priority was to implement the G20 agreement when asked whether the digital service retribution plan could be postponed.
