Mangaluru: Karnataka Lokayukta Hakim Vishwanath Shetty directed officials in Dakshina Kannada to work on a war footing to bring Covid-19 pandemic fully underlotce.
At a review of various cases of Lokayukta in Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat here on Monday, Shetty said the remaining 10% of the target population must be identified earlier and they must be taken down the vaccine cover within 15-20 days.
Drive vaccination has touched 90% of the target population for the first dose in Dakshina Kannada.
“If we are not free of Pandemic Covid-19, it is difficult for the nation to grow economically.
There is no vaccine and have no adverse effects.
Therefore, people must understand that they are responsible not only to their family’s health, but the community too , “he said.
Special emphasis must be given to ensure the compliance of behavior in accordance with Covid in educational institutions, he said, and directed officials to visit schools and colleges regularly.
“Send a report to me through the Zilla Pancayat CEO,” he said.
Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) Malleswamy said that the presence in the class of 1 to 5 was 51%, while it was 69% in classes from 6-8 and 81% in the 9-10 class.
This district has 210 children who lost their parents, including five loss of both parents, he said.
Lokayukta directs officials to accelerate the government’s ex-gratia distribution.
In the vaccination of children, DDPI said the district had identified 2,467 children who were physically challenged.
Drive vaccines will begin as soon as the stock arrives, he added.
Lokayukta visited a higher government elementary school in Gandhinagar and a vaccine center at Wenlock District Hospital.
Complaints against Lokayukta MCC officials said that his office had received complaints against two members of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) staff who created public work obstruction.
He warned strict action.
