Vadodara: One more case was filed against chesters Chetan aka Chintan Patel after a young man approached the police on Saturday.
So far three fir has been registered against Patel, a BJP worker in the city and district, because it cheated almost a dozen people more than Rs 30 Lakh.
On Saturday, a 23-year-old electrician named Rameez King Sindhi told the police in his complaint that Patel fished him by offering work in Canada.
Sindhi said that Patel won the trust of his family by building good relations with all members over the past few years.
In January last year, when Patel said that he would secure work for Sindhi in Canada and also managing his visa, the family easily agreed to give money to him.
Patel told the Sindhi family that the whole process would cost around Rs 18 Lakh.
Initially, Patel took RS 1 lakh from Sindhi for the visa application and medical examination.
In November, Patel said that Sindhi’s work in a hotel was repaired and he would be paid Rs 2.5 lakh every month.
He then took another 80,000 RS passport and other Sindhi.
After pocketing Rs 1.8 Lakh, Patel limited his interaction with Sindhi and his family.
Every time Sindhi asked about the status of his Canadian work, Patel quoted a covid pandemic as a reason for the delay.
Then, Patel stopped answering Sindhi’s call and did not return the money and his passport.
Recently, when Sindhi learned about police actions against Patel, he filed a complaint at the Dabhoi Police Station.
