Berlin: The three-way German government led by Social Democrats (SPD) must be prepared at the end of this year, said co-leader party leaders said in interviewing newspapers published on Saturday.
Norbert Walter-Borjans said he was sure his party, who won the national election Sunday with a narrow margin that made him look for partners, could move quickly to approve the coalition with free greens and business-friendly democrats (FDP).
The Alliance of SPD decisions with Greens and FDP – nicknamed the coalition “traffic lights” after each color – will order the majority of parliament.
“The government must be at the end of the year.
It was feasible,” Walter-Borjan told Welt Am Sonntag.
“We did not have to hold exploration talks until we dropped this time, because we wanted a traffic lights (coalition) where the three pairs brought their strength to bear,” he said.
“In that case, we can begin the negotiations of the formal coalition in October and conclude them in December,” he added.
Green colleague leader Annalena Baerbock said his party had not committed to a particular coalition but its priority was climate protection, and liberal communities with social cohesion.
“That means entering the talks with an open mind,” he said at a party meeting.
Talks about the establishment of coalition governments in Germany usually take several weeks or months.
After the last national election, on September 24, 2017, such negotiations took place until the next March.
SPD will hold an exploration talk with green vegetables and FDP on Sundays.
The smaller “Kingmaker” parties met on Friday for the second round of conversation, which according to FDP leader Christian Lindner was held in “good atmosphere”.
Green and FDP, from the opposite end of the political spectrum and conflict on various problems, have moved the middle stage after a narrow SPD election victory – the first since 2012.
Both the SPD block and Chancellor Angela Merkel, which slumped to low results, treated Small parties to get the majority of parliament for the powerful coalition.
Polling shows voters prefers SPD to lead it.
Merkel, in power since 2005, plans to step down once the new government formed and will remain at that time.
