The girl came third in the Nat’l Mallakhamba competition

Hubballi: Savita Suresh Karennavar, 13, who conducted Rope Mallakhamba in various postures, and came from here, has secured a third place in the National Mallakhamba competition held at Madhya Pradesh on Monday.
He was studying in the Vth standard at Rotary School, Hubballi, and was the daughter of a security guard.
He has won a silver medal at the state level in Mallakhamba, and participated in the national level competition held at Madhya Pradesh after that.
Mallakhamba is a traditional sport, where a participant does air yogasas or wrestling posture and grasping vertical stationary or hanging wood poles, sugar cane or rope.
The pole is usually made of Sheesham (Rosewood India).
This competition was organized by the Indian National Mallakhamba Federation.
“With the support of my parents and coaches, I managed to secure a third place in the competition.
I will continue to strive to secure a gold medal in this sport in the coming days,” said Savita.
“Most children are currently addicted to the game on their cellphones and to TV.
This is a rare achievement that Savita has achieved at a young age, by securing a silver medal in the National Mallakhamba competition, “said Mallakhamba Trainers Siddarouda Hugar and Hajarambi Nadaf.
They said that Savita overcame poverty and other difficulties to secure a third place.
“We will try our best to provide better training to prepare it to secure the first place in the competition in the future.
We are proud of the achievement of Savita, who has been practicing at our 2nd academy,” he added.
After Karririannavar, Savita’s father, said that he had worked as a security guard here for the past 8 years.
“I am very happy that my daughter secured a third place in the national level Mallakhamba competition, and made our city proud.
He has practiced this sport for two years.
Recently, he also participated in sports at the state, district and zone level.
We need financial support to help our daughter get better training to secure a gold medal, and rank first in the competition in the future, “he said.
