Dharwad: The state government has launched a self-defense training program, called Obavv Atake Atma Rakshana Tarabeti, for girls throughout the country taking serious tones about increasing teasing cases and rape in educational institutions, hostels and public places.

In karate, judo, taekwondo and other martial arts for two hours a week for 90 days.
“Since I joined the training program, I felt confident and physically fit,” said Pavitra, who studied at the Karnatak campus in Dharwad.
Kamati, who was training the girls at Rani Channamma Hostel, said the responses from the girls pushed.
