Mysuru: The Republican Party of India (RPI) of the Presidential State Unit, M Venkataswamy, on Wednesday said that the party promoted by Dalit Icon BR Ambedkar tried hard to empower poor and underprivileged classes in the community.
He said that the government state would be responsible for the consequences of the hijab controversy if the government failed to solve this problem.
Venkataswamy was speaking after opening a meeting of the party executive committee in the city.
As Congress has ignored the interests of the poor, Ambedkar promoted the party in 1956, several members were elected from RPI to Parliament at that time, he said.
It was also said that the party has decided to involve its candidates in the election of the ZP, TP, and local agencies that will come as part of strengthening the organization at the state level.
