Coimbatore: A 21-year-old young man who worked at a grocery store was arrested here on Tuesday on charges of stealing Rs 11.5 lakh from the store.
The police recovered money from the defendant’s room in a few minutes after they arrived at the store at the City Hall for an investigation.
The defendant was identified as, M Mohammed Jamshed, 21, from the Palakkad district.
He worked at the store owned by Abdul Ajeez, 35, from Palakkad.
Ajeez also has two other commercial companies, which he rented, said a police officer.
“Jamshed has worked at the store for three months and he lives near Ukkadam.
On Monday night, he watched the owner keep the number of rent in the store.
Jamshed closed the shop around 10pm and returned to his room.
Around 2am, he returned and stole That money.
He threw a key to the drainage channel and closed the store, “the officer said.
The next day, Jamshed went to the 10th hour shop as usual.
“After getting there, he called the owner and told him that the shop was broken open and the key was lost,” the officer said.
Immediately, the owner named Police Ukkadam who discovered that CCTV cameras were wrapped in black paper.
“We found Jamshed’s suspicious behavior and took him to his room and found RS 11.50 lakh cash in a travel bag,” the officer said.
Next, the police arrested and released it in the custody of the judiciary.
