Mysuru: All Indian Democratic Student Organizations (AIDSO) organized student protests in front of the University of Mysore (UOM), Crawford Hall demanded the implementation of the right national education policy (NEP 2020) or delayed its implementation.
Agitators accused that the state government in a hurry to implement NEP 2020 from this academic year at the title level caused many problems for students and teaching staff.
They accused the state government to implement NEP 2020 in the midst of conflicts from stakeholders including students, experts and educators.
When preparation for the implementation of the four-year degree program has not been completed, students now face problems, they say.
AIDSO leaders including the President of the Subhash District, Secretary Chandrakala and others accused that in many subjects, the syllabus is not ready until now.
Although the class began two months ago, students and teachers could not hold a full class because of confusion related to syllabus, non-availability of learning material in many subjects, confusion about choice subjects, etc.
The agitators accused through NEP, the state government tried to impose a new subject instead of making selective learning for students.
The students also raised the problem of a large number of vacancies in college.
“There is an urgent need that appoints more than 14,000 teaching staff in the first-class government managed by the government,” they said.
Students then submit a memorandum to the UUOM authority demanding the postponement of the implementation of NEP this year.
