New Delhi: Head Head Head Anurag Ford Motor Co., Mehrotra has withdraw from the company to pursue other career opportunities, days after US car makers say it will stop making cars in the Asian country, taking a hit of $ 2 billion.
Mehrotra, according to its Linkedin profile, has spent more than a decade with Ford in India in several roles including marketing, sales and the latest as president and directors.
September 30 will be the last day of Mehrotra, a source with the knowledge of the information to Reuters.
Mehrotra did not immediately respond to a request for a comment.
Ford India said in his statement, he had placed the Manufacturing Director, Radhakrishnan, which was tasked with supervising restructuring in the country.
Ford’s decision to stop making cars in India ended its presence more than two decades on the market, no longer looked profitable.
This step will affect around 4,000 employees, the company said.
Ford is the fifth main car maker to stop vehicle manufacturing in India since 2017, following the exit by General Motors and Harley Davidson from the market dominated by Asian rivals.
Although in India since the mid-1990s, Ford has less than 2% of the passenger market shares and uses around 20% of the total production capacity of 440,000 cars a year on two plants.
Ford said earlier this month he planned to reduce production at the West Indian factory at the end of this year and at the South Indian factory in the second quarter of 2022.
The announcement had disturbed hundreds of factory workers, some of them protested this week’s decision.
