Bengaluru: HC on Wednesday said the government could give permission to hold a bull train race subject to the conditions set by the Supreme Court in the case of SR Baji Rao Patil vs Maharashtra state, which was heard along with Jallikattu’s problem.
The division bench led by acting CJ Satish Chandra Sharma made this observation when removing pills submitted by mysuru animal welfare organizations, people for animals.
The bench noted that the prevention of atrocity on animal (amendment), 2017 also gave Bullock train racing permission, and it was not a violation.
On February 15, 2013, the Apex Court has determined that in every event where the Bullock train race is held, separate tracks must be provided for each train.
The organizer must notify the district administration and local police station 10 days earlier about the event and the same thing will be intimidated to the HC designated committee to monitor the law of animal welfare.
Veterinarians, in relation to NGOs, and HC panels can see the event, SC has said.
Cartmen has been prohibited from whipping bulls in any way or induces pain or injury to animals.
The applicant has challenged the permits given to the race of the Bulu Railroad in Karekura Village, Srirangapatna Taluk in the Mandya district and also looked for directions to the Karnataka animal welfare council to oversee these events throughout the country.
