Patna: After more than five years and two months, the Gopalganj police managed to capture the Uphresh of Shukla alias Pandit (40) from neighboring Siwan countries on Saturday night at Hooch Treasure Tragedy which was the first incident of dry Bihar officially claiming the life of at least 19 person.
Shukla was the only one who was accused of continuously avoiding the arrest since August 16, 2016, when death occurred in Khajuri under the City Police Station area in the Gopalganj district.
He was arrested in the heat of Hooch’s death in Gopalganj, the West Champaran and Samastipur took place since Diwali Eve who had been claimed to have reportedly 41 lives until now produced hard action in the country with liquor smugglers.
The police have sent a chargesheet against Shukla.
He was declared ABSON in court.
Incidentally, before the arrest of Shukla, punished Nagina Pasi, who used to accept raw spirits, homoeopathic drugs and other chemicals from it for the manufacture of hooch in Khajurbanni, died in Patna Medical College and hospitals in medicine.
PASI and eight other male family members were handed over by the death penalty by the Special Excise Court in Gopalganj on March 5 this year.
Four female members were sentenced to life in prison in Hooch’s death.
PASI is submitted in Motihari Central Jail and suffer from kidney disease.
Shukla was arrested from the area of Bangali Pakhri under the Mahadeva Police post from Siwan City.
He was forwarded to Judicial custody on Sunday after production in front of the court in Gopalganj.
He was a native of Jalalpur Village under the police station Jamo, Siwan.
Gopalganj SP Anand Kumar said Shukla lived there with a fake identity and produced a livelihood by selling vegetables.
“We have also received information about PASI’s death,” SP said.
Gopalganj City Police Station Lallan Kumar said Shukla was used to smuggle certain homoeopathic drugs and raw spirits from Kolkata and other places and then supply it to PASI for the manufacture of hooch in Khujbanni.
“After the arrest, Shukla claimed that he began to smuggle raw materials for Hooch as soon as the complete ban was enforced in the state on April 5, 2016.
He also used Hooch in Khurjbanni,” said the material.
Kumar said Shukla was used to turn one-liter homoeopathic drug to five liters by mixing water before selling it to PASI for the manufacture of hooch.
He said Shukla escaped to Patna and then to Kerala and lived in both places each at least one and a half years.
“He worked as a central expert at the construction site in both places.
He then returned to Siwan somewhere around February 2020 and began selling vegetables above the cart,” Kumar said.
