Guwahati: Police Railway Government (GRP) arrested a passenger from Rajdhani Express which was bound to be deposited for allegedly attacking BJP MLA from the constituency of Duliajan Assam Terash Gowalla, who traveled by the same train on Tuesday night.
The defendant has been identified as Ramakanta Roy, a Hojai district resident.
He was arrested at Lumding Station after the argument about the lights in the compartment.
Gowalla said, “My wife and I sat in Train coach A3.
A joint passenger repeatedly asked me to turn off the lights, and then turned it on.
Every time I did it when he asked me to do it.
But suddenly, the person stood up and began throwing a violation .
My wife spoke by telephone and I was busy with my cellphone.
“He added,” After that, passengers attacked me.
” MLA claims that he did not find the train staff in the coach, so he called Kecatrupup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra and the train authorities regarding this issue.
The train police then arrested Roy at the Lummding train station.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA from Lumding Constituency, Sibu Mishra, along with supporters reached the station.
BJP workers allegedly tried to persecute Roy at the station, but the police save him.
