Mangaluru: The lack of coordination between Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL) appeared in front of the council meeting, after this problem was raised by congress members on Friday.
Opposition leader A C Vinayaraj from Congress, referring to the project to develop a multilevel hydraulic car parking project in the city, saying that even MCC does not have access to information expected by the work taken by MSCL.
“Any demolition of buildings or the properties of the MCC must be discussed at the Board according to the Karnataka Municipality Act.
The MCC building, which serves as a night protection for homeless people in the city, was destroyed without taking it to the board notice.
There seems to be a lack of coordination between City Corporation and MSCL, “Vinayraj said to the Mayor of Premanand Shetty from BJP looking for MSCL to provide details of all projects to be taken in the city, with MCC notifications.
“MSCL must stop the ongoing work until the proposal is approved at the City Corporation Board.
The proposal must be discussed by the MSCL Board of Directors, and also at the City Corporation Council,” Shetty said.
“In fact, MSCL is developing a multilevel hydraulic car park under a smart mission in PPP mode, at a cost of Rs 2 Crore.
MSCL Managing Director approves the project, and has destroyed two City Corporation buildings to facilitate work, the tender has also been invited,” Officials said.
The mayor said that since MCC has 50% of the shares in MSCL, the project must be discussed at the City Corporation Board as well.
MCC to hold traffic fulfilling a senior official of the City Traffic Police Mangaluru and the Corporators will be held next week to discuss various traces of traffic, said Mayor.
He replied to a Canporator from Congress, Abdul Ravoof, who raised the problem of the city that did not have a parking space due to widening the road.
